Autumn has well and truly arrived and we're harvesting
Combines are out all over the countryside at all times of the night it seems and this is partly because Summer was poor this year. Such a shortage of sun has caused a 2-3 week delay for the crops and time is very much of the essence to get the crops harvested as soon as possible.
Another unfortunate effect of the poor Summer is the effect on prices with higher prices being seen for potatoes and vegetables and a strong likelihood of high prices over the year ahead.
At this point, we've managed to harvest some of our potatoes, carrots and onions, and our broccoli and cauliflower are selling well, so it's not all doom and gloom.
We also grow barley for malting and, whilst it's not been an easy harvest, the combines are out again today.Back to all news
